Our Mission
Geomaterials are a mixture of solid, liquid and gas, which exhibits complex but fascinating behavior. We are tackling challenging topics on such material to overcome the limitations of current geomechanics. In particular, our primal approach is to develop a rational model to predict mechanical and hydraulic behavior of geomaterials with a smaller number of simplified assumptions. We are a group of enthusiastic researchers and students from different regions of the world. We hope that you will enjoy visiting our website and that the visit will inspire you.
[04/2026] Prof. Miguel Ángel Millán from Spain joined our group as visiting researcher.
[04/2026] Dr. Usman Ali joined our group as Assistant Professor.
[04/2026] Mr. Wesley joined our group as Master student.
[04/2026] Mr. Shibuya started Master program after finishing BEng.
[04/2026] Mr. Tao joined our group as Master student.
[09/2025] Mr. Tao joined our group as research student.
We are currently challenging several projects such as:
(a) Advanced modeling of geomaterials e.g., constitutive model incorporating particle crushing effect.
(b) Macro-micromechanics of granular materials through experiments with image analysis and DEM modeling.
(c) Geoenvironmental issues e.g., water-oil-air multiphase flow in porous media, heavy metal adsorption to soils.
(d) Development of new measuring / testing methods
If you are interested in trying challenging researches with us as a graduate student or a postdoc or if you are interested in joint research projects, please contact us.
